What Is Intense Pulsed Light Therapy?   This therapy uses a device with hand pieces that have very powerful flash lamps and colored filters in them.  When the device pulses the flash lamp, the light energy is concentrated in a way that it is absorbed by red and brown blemishes.  When the blemishes absorb the pulse of energy, it causes the red blemishes to contract and fade and the brown blemishes to flake off and fade.  In addition to fading blemishes, the energy has some benefits with collagen re-modeling in the face.  Therefore, this therapy is referred to by many as a "Photofacial" and when used  on the entire face because it results in facial rejuvenation without down time.

What Device Do We Use?  At Young and Healthy Skin we have a state-of-the-art  intense pulsed light device.  This brand of device has patented technology regarding energy delivery and has some unique hand pieces that are specific to red and brown blemishes.  Because of the energy delivery technology of our system, we do not need to use a messy layer of gel on your face.  We will use only a light layer of a non-greasy lubricant.

Our estheticians have been trained by the company and further trained by Dr. Gordon Telepun, our medical director.  Because we work in a medical environment, we keep detailed records of your intense pulsed light treatments so we can monitor your progress and modify your therapy as needed.  Our device is much more powerful than pulsed light devices used at spas.

How Much Intense Pulse Light Therapy Do I Need?  Our full face and neck RejuveLux™ Photofacial series includes 3 treatments about 2 weeks apart using a combination of hand pieces to treat brown and red blemishes.

Intense pulsed light therapy to other areas requires an evaluation by the estheticians because the treatment protocols vary.  We have to take many things into consideration, such as your skin tone, the blemish color and the location of the blemish.  These factors will allow us to determine the power setting we can use to treat you and a rough estimate of the number of treatments it will take to fade blemishes.
